Career and Education Manager
Summary: The Career and Education Manager provides oversight and strategic leadership for career advising, education planning, and training services across Workforce Solutions programs. This role supervises Professional Career Advisors, Case Managers, and Education & Training Specialists to ensure customers receive comprehensive career guidance, access to financial aid, and support in completing postsecondary education or training aligned with high-growth career pathways. The manager ensures service delivery meets contractual standards, aligns with regional workforce goals, and results in successful employment outcomes for customers.
Key Responsibilities
Team Oversight & Leadership
- Supervise Career Advisors, Case Managers, and Education & Training Specialists, ensuring effective delivery of career planning, advising, and education services.
- Ensure staff meet performance standards, submit payroll accurately and timely, and maintain accountability for service outcomes.
- Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and professional development for assigned staff.
Career Services & Advising Oversight
- Oversee career exploration, labor market guidance, resume reviews, and job search assistance provided to customers.
- Ensure staff assist customers in developing comprehensive career service plans, including assessments and individualized employment goals.
- Provide oversight of referrals to training, apprenticeships, and education programs when required for career advancement.
Education & Training Services Oversight
- Ensure staff assist customers in accessing financial aid, scholarships, and literacy resources to support training enrollment.
- Maintain strong partnerships with postsecondary institutions and training providers across the region.
- Monitor education outcomes including enrollment, retention, and completion of credential or degree programs.
Compliance & Performance Monitoring
- Monitor case documentation, data entry, and reporting to ensure compliance with federal, state, and workforce board requirements.
- Review performance outcomes, including employment placement, retention, and wage benchmarks.
- Oversee corrective action plans and continuous improvement strategies.
Strategic Planning & Community Engagement
- Align career and education services with workforce board priorities and targeted industries.
- Identify gaps in service delivery and recommend improvements to career pathways, advising models, and education programs.
- Represent the Career and Education Unit at workforce board meetings, community forums, and education partnership events.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in workforce development, education, counseling, social sciences, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- At least 5 years of experience in workforce development, education services, career advising, or case management.
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory or management experience.
- Strong knowledge of labor market trends, education systems, and career pathways.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and workforce systems (e.g., WorkInTexas, TWIST).

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess and provide a valid Texas Driver’s License and Automobile Liability Insurance as required by the State of Texas.
- Must have access to reliable transportation in order to travel within service area.

- WORK ENVIRONMENT: Fast-paced, demanding both, physically and mentally, and in constant communication.
