Youth Employment Counselor
Summary: The Youth Employment Counselor serves a critical role in connecting youth job seekers with meaningful employment opportunities. This position is centered on job matching and placement—supporting individuals in identifying career goals, aligning their skills with labor market demand, and guiding them through the application and hiring process. Youth Employment Counselor provide universal job search services to the public, including resume development, targeted job referrals, and assistance with navigating online applications.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide one-on-one support for resume development, interview preparation, and online job applications
• Identify and refer customers to job opportunities that match their skills, experience, and goals using WorkInTexas and other tools
• Guide customers through the application, interview, and placement process; follow up with customers and employers to assess referral outcomes
• Conduct skills assessments and deliver relevant labor market information to inform job search strategies
• Facilitate job search workshops, hiring events, and group activities to connect job seekers with employers
• Support individuals not enrolled in intensive services
• Accurately document all services, referrals, and outcomes in WorkInTexas in a timely manner
Qualifications
• Two years of work experience combining elements of training, counseling, case management, or other services
• Ability to work in a variety of settings with a culturally diverse customer base, with the ability to be culturally sensitive
• Ability to serve as a role model to customers and motivate them towards achieving goals
• Experience in recruiting or marketing services is preferred
• Case management experience and the ability to read and interpret policies and procedures
• Experience in Workforce development
• Personal computer literacy required, including effective use of the Internet, e-mail, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook);
• Ability to meet and/or exceed set goals and objectives;
• Excellent interpersonal, customer service, organizational skills, and communication skills, both oral and written, required
• Exceptional time management skills to meet deadlines and work under pressure
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess and provide a valid Texas Driver’s License and Automobile Liability Insurance as required by the State of Texas.
- Must have access to reliable transportation in order to travel within service area.

- PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing duties of the job, employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; for long periods of time. Employee must be able to drive for extended periods of time. Employees must occasionally lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, must be able to set up display area.
- WORK ENVIRONMENT: Fast-paced, demanding both, physically and mentally, and in constant communication.
