Youth HGCY Career Advisor

Summary: Serve as the primary point of contact for youth participants, guiding them through enrollment, assessment, career planning, program activities, and ongoing case management. Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct intake, eligibility determination, and case management.
  • Develop and monitor Individual Service Strategies (ISS).
  • Provide career counseling, labor market information, and referrals to supportive services.
  • Track youth progress toward education, training, and employment outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with WIOA requirements and documentation standards.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, education, or related field OR 2+ years of youth services experience.
  • Knowledge of workforce or education systems.

Preferred Skills:

  • Case management experience with youth ages 14–24.
  • Experience working with disconnected or at-risk youth populations
  • Familiarity with WIT, eligibility, and documentation standards.
  • Strong mentoring and motivational interviewing skills.
  • Ability to work in a variety of settings with a culturally diverse customer base, with the ability to be culturally sensitive
  • Ability to serve as a role model to customers and motivate them towards achieving goals
  • Ability to read and interpret policies and procedures
  • Experience in Workforce development
  • Personal computer literacy required, including effective use of the Internet, e-mail, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook);
  • Ability to meet and/or exceed set goals and objectives;
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, organizational skills, and communication skills, both oral and written, required
  • Exceptional time management skills to meet deadlines and work under pressure

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Must possess and provide a valid Texas Driver’s License and Automobile Liability Insurance as required by the State of Texas.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation in order to travel within service area.

  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing duties of the job, employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; for long periods of time. Employee must be able to drive for extended periods of time. Employees must occasionally lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, must be able to set up display area.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT: Fast-paced, demanding both, physically and mentally, and in constant communication.
