Youth HGCY Career Advisor
Summary: Serve as the primary point of contact for youth participants, guiding them through enrollment, assessment, career planning, program activities, and ongoing case management. Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct intake, eligibility determination, and case management.
- Develop and monitor Individual Service Strategies (ISS).
- Provide career counseling, labor market information, and referrals to supportive services.
- Track youth progress toward education, training, and employment outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with WIOA requirements and documentation standards.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, education, or related field OR 2+ years of youth services experience.
- Knowledge of workforce or education systems.
Preferred Skills:
- Case management experience with youth ages 14–24.
- Experience working with disconnected or at-risk youth populations
- Familiarity with WIT, eligibility, and documentation standards.
- Strong mentoring and motivational interviewing skills.
- Ability to work in a variety of settings with a culturally diverse customer base, with the ability to be culturally sensitive
- Ability to serve as a role model to customers and motivate them towards achieving goals
- Ability to read and interpret policies and procedures
- Experience in Workforce development
- Personal computer literacy required, including effective use of the Internet, e-mail, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook);
- Ability to meet and/or exceed set goals and objectives;
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service, organizational skills, and communication skills, both oral and written, required
- Exceptional time management skills to meet deadlines and work under pressure
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess and provide a valid Texas Driver’s License and Automobile Liability Insurance as required by the State of Texas.
- Must have access to reliable transportation in order to travel within service area.

- PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing duties of the job, employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; for long periods of time. Employee must be able to drive for extended periods of time. Employees must occasionally lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, must be able to set up display area.
- WORK ENVIRONMENT: Fast-paced, demanding both, physically and mentally, and in constant communication.
